Mobile Motel

mobile-motel-bus

I thought this was very unique. It’s a motel on wheels. Here is some information on it from the photographer…

This bus slash sleeper unit is estimated to accommodate 12 people and is hired by Europeans to tour through the Rocky mountains all the way up to Alaska and stopping at all the hot spots or cool spots along the way. One of the passengers said the driver is a good cook.

So I guess they use this to travel and go sight seeing. It looks like a unique and cost effective way to travel.

“If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.”

If you haven’t already seen it, go to steampunkworkshop.com/bus1.shtml. It has nothing to do with this bus, just a really neat bus to motorhome conversion done on the cheap. He did a really good job on it.

I saw this bus parked in the Newmarket Square food terminal area of Boston today. Flabbergasted, I googled “motel bus,” and sure enough, this was the very first picture result!

I want to know more — how constructed, what the interior looks like, etc.

Pete–no way, haha! I was in Boston a few weeks ago for a workshop. I bet there’s so much there I could have seen there. About the bus, let me know if you find all that info.

I am from germany and I went on 2 tours. I was 14 and 16, I went to Scandinavia and the other was Turkey. Best experience ever. They call it “rollendes Hotel”, – rolling hotel. Overseas the company was called RotelTours. If you google it you can find many pics. The one we traveled in was a bus and the hanger seperate. At the end of the hanger is a complete little kitchen, (and yes the food the driver cooked was great), then underneath they have plenty chairs, tables and those little sleeping lofts were awesome, they pull an awning over it, you can walk like it’s a hall. And the reason my parents took me and my brother, it was very affordable. Loved it.
