Modern Hobbit House Video
Faircompanies has been publishing awesome videos on youtube related to small and recycled houses. On this episode they are featuring a modern hobbit house which is a tiny cob home out in North Carolina’s Pickards Mountain Eco-Institute.
People have been building with cob for hundreds of years but it is currently being re-discovered. The coolest part is that all of the clay from the house featured comes from materials within 50 feet of the house.
They have put a lot of thought into the design of the house like the direction it faces to keep the house comfortable (naturally) inside. Enjoy the video!
The house is about 140 square feet. Not only is it tiny but it is made completely out of natural resources. I’m looking forward to learning more about this kind of building.
I love how you can sculpt shelves from the material in the walls. They’ll explain that towards the end of the video.
