Minimalist Water System

What if you want to convert a particular room into private living quarters that has no bathroom or kitchen? What do you do about water?

It’s expensive to install plumbing in a new area of a house. Have you ever thought about a simple do it yourself option that can work for…

  • Renting a private bedroom
  • Van dwelling
  • School bus conversions
  • Camping
  • Off grid living

Using some online resources I was able to find…

1) A porcelain kitchen sink container

This jug can hold 2.5 gallons of water. Perfect to place above the kitchen sink so that the water drains easily.

Some tiny houses are supplied water by simple gravity fed systems just like this.

You can put this container on a hot plate to make or keep the water warm.

I’m sure you can also manage a way to do a similar installation over head so you can use it as a shower.

2) A hot plate to keep the water warm

This hot plate can be used as I mentioned above–to keep the water warm when needed.

3) A sink

You can use a bowl like this 16″ diameter one that I found on Amazon as a sink.

You’ll just have to figure out the drilling the hole for drainage part.

More… Gray Water

What you’ll do with the gray water will vary upon your situation. If this is a mobile home of any kind you’ll want to be sure your gray water’s going into a tank so that you can dispose of the water properly.

In other situations like in tiny houses–you can divert the gray water to a garden.

Either way here are some containers that may help.
