Building Your Own Tiny House

Ran into this tiny house Youtube video that’s really a picture slide show of the construction of a tiny house by user ljswenson.

Meet Mike and Lisa Swenson who designed and built their own tiny house on a trailer.

You’ll see them setting up the foundation on their trailer indoors.

They seemed to have found the perfect door for the house. Looks thin enough and has plenty of windows too.

They put the framing up and even the loft floor (with the help of a tractor).

You can also watch as they put up the rafters in gorgeous scenery. I love how their loft hangs over the the hitch but if I designed it myself I might have decided to do the same thing over the front door.

Then you can watch as they put the sheathing onto it. Then insulation, roofing, and windows.

It’s fun to watch these come to life. Man, their view is absolutely beautiful.

Continue watching and you’ll see them get the finishing touches on the roof, skylight, windows, and that door I was talking about.

Then you’ll get to see the beautiful siding that they chose. And they installed an air conditioning unit which you rarely see on a tiny house.

Video Slideshow: A Tiny Bungalow on Wheels

After I made a Youtube video episode of Tiny House Talk today, I ran into a pretty cool tiny house on a trailer that I hadn’t seen before. So I thought you would like to see it.

For this project the owner uses an old RV to strip and re-use the trailer. I imagine this would save you up to thousands when compared to purchasing a new trailer.

But it’s not brand new, might need work, and requires you to put in tons of labor to get it ready. So I can see why you might just buy a trailer ready to go. There are pros and cons to everything, aren’t there?

How would you do it? Trailer-wise.

Watch this tiny bungalow house come to life right here…

Stay In Jay’s Fencl Tiny House in NH

There’s a place in Jackson NH called the Lodge and Jay Shafer’s Fencl tiny house has arrived there.

The Fencl is a 130 square foot house with an upstairs sleeping loft.  I guess Tumbleweed ran a contest with the intention of partnering up with a company/location where they could rent out the house and this is the result.

Rates are approximately $250 per night.  Quite expensive for most of us but it seems like the house is getting rented according to their websites reservations system.  At first I thought the price was really high but then I realized that you can’t really find these houses anywhere… And no matter what the price, these pictures are inspiring to look at.

It’s surrounded by a beautiful garden and look at how nice they’ve decorated it…
