Jay Shafer Releases New Book and 6 New Tiny House Designs Called Box Bungalows

Tumbleweed Houses has released six new tiny houses called box bungalows and a brand new book.

Each house ranges from 99 to 107 square feet and they’re each completely customizable.

They can be placed in most backyards without a permit because of their small size.

Optionally you can still attach them onto a trailer if you wanted to make it mobile.

The book is 144 pages and features the six Box Bungalows. About half of the book is spent on showing you how to build a tiny house.

The book is titled Tumbleweed DIY Book of Backyard Sheds & Tiny Houses. The theme is on building your own…

  • Guest cottage
  • Writing studio
  • Home office
  • Craft workshop
  • Personal retreat

Inside you’ll learn all about building including foundation, walls, roofing, windows, and doors.

Building plans to build your own box bungalow start at just $49. Buying the kits to build your self start at $12,999.

Once a Shed, Now a Tiny House

It’s always fun when you find a new small house while you’re walking, riding bike, or driving around your neighborhood.

Last week I ran into this tiny house somewhere I didn’t expect there could be one. Which goes to show that sometimes you just have to do it.

Sometimes fear can hold you back but check out how someone out there turned this shed into what looks like a livable little home. Do you think it’s still a place to store things? Or a tiny office?

I don’t know because you can see they even made an overhang above the door so you wouldn’t get wet if it’s raining and your fumbling for your keys.

What are your thoughts on shed-based houses? I think sheds are a great choice if you’re on a budget because they’re very inexpensive and can be insulated then completely converted for camping in the yard.

If I had the money, I’d go with a Tumbleweed House.

Building A Shed Based Tiny House For 1000 Bucks

Building a tiny house for 1000 bucks means basing it off of a shed. And this isn’t the first time I’ve told you about this…

It’s been said that 85% of college graduations are boomeranging back home because of the economy.

If you are a recent college grad, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. There are some jobs, yes, but there is a lot of competition for the ones that you can use your degree with.

So what to do? Start by thinking outside the box because things have and are changing very much.

Moving at home is a great option and some of us aren’t lucky enough to even have that. So what about using that extra space in the yard to create some privacy for yourself? This way you can work on getting yourself out of the rut. Even if you don’t live there, it can be your work room to get away.

If I were in a situation where I could build one, I’d use it as my writing room. :-)

But anyways, check out what this guy built in his yard and he’ll tell you all about it… And yes, it only ran him about $1,000. That’s pretty cheap!
