3 Ideas for Simplifying Your Life Today

  • Think about your values and write down what’s important to you. Is it spending time with family and friends, making more income, spending time doing what you love, art, music, travel, adventure, etc.
  • Cut down television time and continue to do this slowly more and more–or whatever works for you. But start replacing this TV time with productive tasks that you enjoy doing,
  • Clear your desk and find your own unique way of keeping it clean that works for you. When your desk is clean your mind is clear and this will help you be more productive and efficient.

Today’s grateful and thankfulness quotes:

“Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life.”
- Northrup Christiane

“If the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will be enough.” – Meister Eckhart

“God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say thank you?” -William A. Ward

“For today and its blessings, I owe the world an attitude of gratitude.” -Clarence E. Hodges

Tiny House Landscape Picture in Austrian Alps

I’m featuring a post I ran into earlier today from Miss Minimalist

Today I’d like to share this quote from William Henry Channing:

“To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common–this is my symphony.”

I think it’s a beautiful, and refreshing, take on creative expression.

Advertisers encourage us to “express ourselves” through the things we buy. They tell us that by “styling” our lives — with sleek cars, designer dresses, or modernist housewares — we can show our creativity. (Of course, we all know this is just a clever marketing scam.)

More appropriately, we can express our creative genius through the things we make. We can draw, paint, sculpt, knit, make pottery, compose music, or cook fabulous gourmet meals.

Tiny House Picture: Three Cottages in Nida

Three cottages.

Today I have this beautiful picture of a little tiny house community taken by Marc C. Johnson.

This photo was taken in Nida, Lithuania (Europe). Nida is a resort town where over 50,000 tourists visit every summer.

Simplicity quotes for today:

“Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art.”
~ Frederic Chopin

“Purity and simplicity are the two wings with which man soars above the earth and all temporary nature.”
~ Thomas Kempis
