Jenine and Amy’s Tiny Houses

Remember Jenine’s tiny houseFaircompanies went out to interview Amy and her about their two tiny house projects.

The first is Jenine’s actual house which she built pretty much 100% of recycled materials that she found in dumps and on craigslist–all for less than $3,500!

Her first house was such a success that she and Amy decided they would construct another one so that they can put it up for sale when they finish.  And that ended up being a success as well.

Watch these videos to learn more.  I found these to be some of the most interesting videos on tiny houses on trailers.  Enjoy!

This first video is about the $3,500 that Jenine built for herself out of all recycled materials.  How she built it and introduction to their tiny house project which they built to sell.

This video gives you more information and a tour of Jenine’s $3,500 100% recycled material tiny house.

House sold! The story of Jenine and Amy’s (Forge Ahead Construction) first sale.

A big THANK YOU goes out to Faircompanies for creating and publishing these videos for all of us to see.

Shipping Container Housing for Haiti

I ran into shipping container housing dot org which is planning a project for haiti with shipping containers.

They look like they are 20 foot containers and have a water collection system on top.  Notice the roof slants and the large “H20″ box above.

This is a pretty simple solution using lots of resources that are already around so I know that costs cannot be too high for a project like this although the website doesn’t give further details other than the architectural drawings.

The company’s mission is to provide affordable housing for those in need.  Quickly and safely.  Therefore they are trying to do this with the use of shipping containers because they are quick to implement and provide safe housing.

Airstream Living and Modern House Boating on MSN

MSN seems to be catching on to tiny house living.  Right now they have got great photos of someone living in an Airstream with a mobile cargo trailer office and a family who lives on a 1000 square foot modern house boat.

Both seem like awesome lifestyles and are worth checking out.  Just click on the links and I’ve set it up to open a new window to the story on MSN.

The family with the houseboat commute from neighbors house on kayaks.  Instead of a post dinner walk… They go for a quick paddle.  My favorite thing has to be their gatherings on the roof of the house.  Perfect spot for an evening get together with friends and family.

Andreas Airstream life is also appealing.  He’s an architect and works a few steps from his house inside of a beautifully converted cargo trailer office which he found on Craigslist.
